Crocheted House with Birds

Yesterday I blogged about a paper project using these delightful little cartons.  Today, I would like to show you another one, using crochet.

This one is crocheted around and sewn onto the carton.  No little house is complete without a little bird taking up residence.  And its little friend stopping by for a visit.

    Happy Day Dear Ones!!       :]

Little Carton Houses

Good Morning!  Here is the start of a fun project.  I used these cartons to create some fun little buildings to put up in my toy museum.

Here they are, covered in some fun papers, and added ribbons to hang them up with.  They look pretty and cute out in the rafters of the museum.

Have a terrific Tuesday!   Thanks for stopping in.      (..)

Music Box with Case

Here is a music box and the case, that Ed recently finished.  I did the wood burning once again.  This time we had a specific person in mind as we worked.  It's a birthday gift for our son, Ray.  Celebrating his 36th, and being a left handed bass guitar player, we thought he would have some fun with a music box built special for him.
We used pine harvested from our land, and the burning shows white pines.  There are four birds representing his four children, and a butterfly symbolizing his sweet wife, Gena.

Happy Birthday, on the 27th, Ray!!!      Hope you have time to play some beautiful music. <3

1900's Dress Form

Playing around with the camera, I took a couple of shots in the guest room of this mannequin.  It's an old one from the early 1900's.  I recovered it in papier mache, and the dress is one I picked up at an antique store.  I am guessing it's from the 1950's.   I just love that old stuff!!

Hope your day is a good one....stay cool!     :)

Quilted Wedding Portrait

This is a small quilted piece I did several years ago.  The photo is the wedding picture of my parents.  I added some color with acrylic paint, stamped the year they were married on the bottom of the picture, and added the quaint little roses and ribbon to the piece.  It measures about 8" x 10".

They had a June wedding, and well over 50 years later, they remained together.  Harold and Frances.

                                                                 Hope your Tuesday is Blissful!

Crocheted Fish Tank

Happy Home for my crocheted fishes, sitting on the dinning room table.  It will remain a dust free environment as I turned the glass upside down, and Ed built the platform for it to fit snuggled down into a space cut out, so all enclosed top to bottom!   I'll post some close ups without the glass, so you can get a closer look at all the coral and the fishes.

Did you know that starfish come in many different colors and patterns?  I didn't realize this until I started taking a look at some photos on the Internet.  Amazing diversity of life on the bottom of the sea.  If you goggle the word hyperbolic, you will see alot of ways people crocheted coral reefs.  And, learn a new math term.  I am stretching my brain around that one, "hyperbolic".

Thanks for taking the time to look at my tank of crochet!!!   <3  Audrey

Gone Fishing in Crochet

Here is my latest crocheting crazy-mode project.  These little fish measure about 4-5".  Their stuffed with a soft polyester stuffing, and I added little brown eyes, normally used on teddy bears.  They turned out so darn cute, I decided to create a home for them, too.

I started crocheting a water-world for them, and went to Wally World to purchase an aquarium to set them up into.  The piece in the upper left hand corner is a piece of coral that I crocheted to add to the space when I set it up.  This free-hand crocheting is sooo fun!  I never could take direction very well (ha-ha!).    Stay tuned, will show the finished project soon!!

Glad you took the time to stop by today!!       Audrey

Old Pup vs. New Pup

I found this little sad pup at a second-hand store.  He needed a new lease on life, and a true make-over.  After a good cleaning I brought out the paints and turned his life around.  I used acrylic paint, and when he was all nice and dry, I painted his eyes and tongue with a clear nail polish to give it that nice shiny look.

This well behaved quiet little guy will be happy to be a guard dog in my museum, don't you think?

Have a dog-gone good day people!

Hyndla the Goddess Drawing

Good Morning!!   Greetings from the goddess, Hyndla.  This is by far the largest colored pencil drawing I have ever done.  It measures 30" x 40".
The three pointed symbol behind her represents the three stages in a woman's life: child, woman, and crone.  The quote in the right hand lower corner reads: "Hyndla, the sorceress was there by Freja's side, but lived deep in the forest in a cottage."
Freja is another goddess who has the honor of being named for one of the days of the week.  All the other days of the week are named after male gods.  Freja represents Friday!!

Happy Monday, dear Family and Friends!!  Monday is named after the god Mars, I believe....god of war, sometimes Mondays feel that way...gather your troops and hit the world in your own way!!

Three String Music Box

Here is another little beauty that Ed built.  And I had the fun of doing the wood burning, again.   I call this one "The Little One".  It measures 7" x 24" x 3".  It's the smallest one he has built so far.  It's all maple, and is a three string tuned to EBE.

I kept the design rather simple on the top, because the grain of the wood spoke for itself.

The top of the box and the sides were really fun to do the curving leaf motif.

The year is burned into the bottom of the box.  I always add made in the USA, on the back of the instrument.
This one has a really lovely tone, and is easier to play, due to it's size and the 3-string fret board.

Well done, my sweet man of mine!!

Hope your day is filled with a pleasant tune!    (*.*)

Abstract Quilted Art

Good Morning!   This is a small wall hanging I did several years ago.  I used some fabric from some of my Mom's dresses that she wore while in a nursing home.  My sister had made the dresses for her and added lace to the collar.
The pieces added to it with the circles was a piece that just wasn't holding it's own during the process, so I cut it up, and rearranged it.  The blue ribbon pulls the piece together.

This is a close up of the same piece, the colors seem a bit truer here as well.  I did the sewing machine lines to add more texture and to quilt it all together.

Another up close picture....and I am off to the studio today.  It's nice to know that Frances, Cora and I all had something to do with this work.

Day Four : Museum of My Stuff

Good Morning!  It's seems I am having some difficulties on my blog dashboard.  Unable to complete, or correct what I attempt to share with you.  So, I will bring up one more photo, if I can.  And then call in the younger generation, (my Granddaughter) and see if she can help me with the problems!

Wish me luck!   Now you will know if there isn't any closing remarks..."error on page" is glaring at me as I type.
