This little portrait is a needle felted project. I attempted to add a little depth to the surface by including the blue tone in the shadow areas of the face and neck. I wanted it to look more painterly.
It certainly is a different material to work with. Sculptural, and tactile. The wool fibers are soft, and pliable. The portrait measures about 6" tall, by 4" at the base. The side profile measures about 4". The hairdo is called a French Twist, I believe. Quite popular in the 1960's. I call her, Elaine.
Thanks for stopping in today, hope you have a restful and relaxing weekend coming up!

Oh, such lovely bits of batik!! The colors are so bright and delicious, don't you think?
Some measuring, folding and pins. Then the fun part! Sewing it all by hand, into this lovely panel. I made three of them and sewed those together to make a little wall hanging.
That is a 12" ruler above this little darling. Feel the joy in those colors?
Happy Hump Day! : ) Audrey

This is a music box, built by Ed. He made it out of a nice clear wood, Aspen. It had a surface like a white canvas. He handed it over to me, so I could attempt some wood burning, again. This time I went wild, and really "dolled" it up!
It measures 28" x 10 1/2" x 3 1/4". It's a 4 string, and plays beautifully.
This music box was soooo...over the top, decorated, that I decided to call it "Gypsy." The process of burning into the surface took about 10 hours all together. I kept track of my time, over several days, as the wood burning tool is different then a regular pencil. After awhile, the hand begins to cramp up, and I need a breath of fresh air! Pyrography is an interesting art process, and I hope to explore some more adventures.
Keep the Home Fires Burning People!! It makes for toasty toes.......Audrey

The needle felted hearts of "drama" would like to have a show today. So, here goes, the Broken Hearted with a little bead work applied to the surface. Who hasn't experienced a broken heart at some point?
Let's move on to a few more hearts of drama, ok?
Hopefully, we don't know anyone personally, with this sad condition.
No words to express this brave representation of the sacrifice we know someone has made.
I would like to leave you with a cheerful little felted heart, in hopes that you may find your happy heart today. We have glorious sunshine here in Wisconsin today. My Heart is Happy!!

Good Morning! This heart, made of needle felted wool, measures about 4 1/2" x 3 1/2". I think it's one of my favorites. Probably because it has that lovely summer day splashed across the surface.
Heartland, also reminds me of my home, here in Wisconsin. And how grateful I am to be where I am. In the house, where it's warm! Hope you are in your happy place today!! (*>*) Audrey

Blue Monday...inspired a blue wool felted heart. I call this one, "Melancholy." The wool felted hearts continue, I will share a few more today.
All those little wire ties from the bread were over flowing in the "save" place. So, I took a handful one day and started twisting and weaving them into this little "wired" heart. It measures about 3" x 5".
Oh, no..I ate the last one....and I really love pistachio nuts!! This would make a cute card, don't you think? "Ah, Nuts....I am crazy about you." Or, "Ah, Nuts...I miss you." Or, "Ah, Nuts...I wish you were still mine."
The "Create a Heart" saga continues...thanks for stopping in today! : ) Audrey

Happy Valentines Day!! May you feel "loved" today! These are a few small wool felted hearts I made. Added some beads and pearls, the doily one is really a mini doily folded sewn and a tiny felted heart sewn on the front.
It's good to stop and reflect on the ones in our lives, and "feel the love." <3 Audrey : )

Have you ever known someone with a heart of gold? Several people come to my mind, that I have had the privilege to "dance the dance of life with."
This is another needle felted wool heart. It measures about, 3" x 3". And, the series continues....I hope to show you more of these little gems throughout this month of "hearts".

It's a mermaid. With natural shells for her modesty. This little sweetie came about by sewing the shape together, and adding some stuffing. Then I took a pen and drew her on. She measures about 9" long. There is a lovely blue material used for the back of her. She adds a nice aquatic touch, and reminds me of warm breezes and calm waters.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..... ; ) Audrey

Oh..Sweetness!!! This is a wool felted heart I made. It's part of a series I have been working on. The wool roving and a special needle, a few nips into my fingers, and I can say art sometimes can be painful. I am hoping to purchase a shadow box to display this little "sweetie." It measures 2 1/2" x 3" x 1 1/4".
Sweet thoughts sent your way today! : ^ ) Audrey

February has arrived, and of course it brings to my mind that powerful symbol of the human "Heart."
This image was made with some red caps I saved from an egg product I buy quite frequently. The cheerful red of these little caps, along with some pretty blue paper, some studio time...and I was off into my happy place.
Make Art, and Live Happy!!!
